Illinois Shows Strong Effort To Get Voters To Polls

From door-knocking to arranging Election Day transportation, Illinois is showing intense efforts to get voters to the polls.

Tuesday's election in President Barack Obama's home state features at least six U.S. House races that are expected to be close, a matchup that will determine if an indicted former state lawmaker can go back to Springfield and a proposed amendment to the Illinois Constitution.

National Republicans have sent two busloads of workers from Washington to help with voter efforts and the party is relying on technology to help watch polls on Tuesday. Democrats in Illinois are focused on congressional races and sending Illinoisans to nearby battleground states to help in the presidential contest.

Advocacy groups are making scores of calls. That includes the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.
