Coach Lovie Smith says the Chicago Bears properly handled quarterback Jay Cutler's concussion on Sunday night.

Smith says trainers immediately examined Cutler during a replay review after he took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Houston's Tim Dobbins late in the second quarter of a 13-6 loss to the Texans.

He says Cutler showed no symptoms of a concussion immediately after the hit, so the quarterback finished the half. Symptoms showed up at intermission and Cutler wound up sitting out the second half.

>>Bears Expected To Re-Sign McCown

(Lake Forest, IL) -- The Bears could be bringing back quarterback Josh McCown. ESPN reports Chicago is expected to re-sign the veteran with Jay Cutler's status in question. Cutler suffered a concussion in Sunday's loss to Houston. McCown made two starts for the Bears at the end of last season.
