Dr. John Warner Hospital Foundation Raising Funds For Kitchen Items

width=The Dr. John Warner Hospital Foundation has gone a different direction this year for their annual fundraising effort.

Each winter, friends and supporters of the city-owned hospital look forward to the annual Gala put on by the Foundation. Because of the shape of the economy, President of the Foundation, Dixie Walden explains they decided it would be best to try something less expensive for supporters of their cause.

The DJWH Foundation has two goals of purchases this year for the hospital. The first is a food warmer for the kitchen. Walden says right now the one they have is 25 years old, and parts for repairs are either too expensive because they are hard to find, or they cannot be found at all. She feels this would greatly improve the operations in the kitchen.

The other purchase the Foundation would like to make are overlap food trays. Walden says the current ones, are also a little dated and very narrow. She feels providing new trays would benefit the patients of the hospital that require meals from the kitchen in their rooms.

The Foundation's goal is to raise $30-thousand through this fundraiser. The Foundation began their mailing campaign in September and hope to have a majority of the donations by the end of the month. There is still time to make a donation. To make a donation to the DJWH Foundation, you can mail a check payable to the DJWH Foundation and those can be mailed to the Hospital, at 422 West White Street in Clinton.
