Maryland, Rutgers In Talks To Join Big 10

Maryland and Rutgers are in talks to bring the Big Ten membership to 14.  Yahoo! Sports reports an announcement could come as early as today.  According to ESPN, Maryland's Board of Regents will decide by today at 9:00 a.m. if the university will accept the Big Ten's invitation into the conference.  Maryland would pay the ACC a 50-million-dollar exit fee, which was increased in September.  Rutgers' fee to leave the Big East is ten-million-dollars if it gives the conference a 27-month notice.  West Virginia paid double that to leave the Big East in a haste to join the Big 12 last season.
