EIUs Erik Lora Named Ohio Valley Player of Year

Eastern Illinois receiver Erik Lora has been named the Ohio Valley Conference's offensive player of the year, while his coach Dino Babers has been voted the league's coach of the year.

The league released the awards Tuesday along with the All-OVC team.

Lora is the third Eastern Illinois player tabbed offensive player of the year along with Tony Romo (2000-02) and running back Vincent Webb. Lora led the nation with 11.27 catches and 139.18 yards per game and with 1,531 yards receiving.

Babers replaced Bob Spoo, and he led a team that went 2-9 and was last in the OVC to the league title.

Linebacker Blake Peiffer of Southeast Missouri State was named defensive player of the year. His teammate, quarterback Scott Lathrop, was freshman of the year.
