Leucadia Bill Could Come Up For Override Vote

Governor Quinn rejected a plan to build a synthetic natural gas plant in Chicago but lawmakers may attempt to override the veto while they're in Springfield. Mark Biel with the Chemical Industry Council of Illinois, says that would be a bad move for the people of Illinois.

Ameren and NiCor customers could foot the bill for a new synthetic natural gas plant if lawmakers override Governor Quinn's veto of the Leucadia proposal. Biel urges lawmakers not to push the bill.

Biel says the plant will cost about eight-billion dollars over the next 30 years if the proposal is overridden. Lawmakers passed the bill in the final days of session back in May. Governor Quinn rejected the bill, claiming it doesn't include enough protections for consumers. Leucadia officials say they're looking to build the plant in another state but Biel says lawmakers could still try to push the bill during veto session.
