Health Officials Investigate Salmonella Cluster

Workers at a McDonald's in Bloomington are undergoing health tests as officials investigate a cluster of salmonella cases possibly linked to the fast food restaurant.

The McLean County Health Department announced the investigation Monday. The agency and the Illinois Department of Public Health are looking into the cases of illness among people who ate at a number of restaurants from Oct. 18 through Nov. 11.

A McDonald's restaurant on South Main Street in Bloomington has voluntarily closed for now. Employees will be allowed to return to work when lab tests confirm they are safe to serve food.

Symptoms of illness caused by salmonella include diarrhea, vomiting, fever and stomach cramps.
