>>Harbaugh To Name Starting QB Mid-Week

(Santa Clara, CA) -- San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh will reportedly name his starting quarterback for this week's game on Wednesday. Colin Kaepernick got the start in place of Alex Smith last week despite the fact Smith was medically cleared to play following a concussion. On Monday, Harbaugh referred to Smith as his starter even though Kaepernick played in Sunday's win over the Saints. Kaepernick was not told he was starting until Harbaugh made the announcement in a private team meeting on Saturday night. The Niners take on the Rams in St. Louis this Sunday.

>>Panthers Claw Eagles Behind Newton

(Philadelphia, PA) -- Cam Newton did it all as the Panthers took down the Eagles, 30-22. Newton was 18-of-28 for 306 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 52 yards and two more scores for Carolina. Brandon LaFell had three catches for 74 yards and a touchdown as the Panthers moved to 3-and-8 on the season. Bryce Brown powered the Philadelphia offense with 178 yards on 19 carries with two touchdowns, but also lost two fumbles. Nick Foles was 16-for-21 for just 119 yards in his second-career start. The Eagles lost their seventh straight game and fell to 3-and-8.
