Clinton Community Educational Foundation Hears From Classroom Grant Recipients

The Clinton Community Educational Foundation recently held their annual dinner that headlines the scholarships the Foundation hands out and also the classroom grants.

At the annual dinner, those in attendance heard from former student Nolan Severson who is a freshman at a Missouri school. Member of the CCEF, Claudine Wargel explains he spoke to the group about his studies and future goals. Severson was the recipient of the Beck's Scholarship.

One of the classroom grants distributed last year benefited the Clinton High School Physical Education department. Kay Wertz spoke to the group about how heart rate monitors and supplies they have received from the CCEF benefit the student. Wargel says they can see how the effects of those supplies to the PE Department are improving the physical health of students.

Two other classroom grants CCEF members and donors heard about from their annual dinner was a grant that benefited the library and the science classrooms. Wargel explains the grant the library received puts books on tapes and helps students who have missed classroom time to catch up quicker. The science classrooms grant demonstrates how books and science coincide.

Wargel says each year they are not always able to hear from each teacher that receives a classroom grant, but it is always nice for donors and board members of the Educational Foundation to hear how the grants are benefiting the teachers and students of the district.

Each year the CCEF receives applications from the district's teachers and department heads for things they would like in their classrooms. The biggest hurdle is deciding which classrooms are in most need of financial help. The funds distributed come from the various fundraising efforts done through the year the Educational Foundation, which include their recognition wall which now sits outside the High School's Sports entrance, along with several other smaller events.
