The Springfield woman accused of decapitating her husband made her first appearance in court yesterday. Sangamon County State's Attorney John Milhiser says the first degree murder charges against Juatasha McCaster carry a maximum sentence of 60 years.

Milhiser says McCaster is innocent until proven guilty, but he's confident he has the right person.

McCaster is accused of murdering and dismembering her husband, Norman McCaster, and dumping him in a field near Mechanicsburg. Milhiser says he'll seek maximum sentencing for McCaster, which means she could serve sentences for her charges consecutively if convicted.
