Clinton Christmas Parade Saturday

The annual Clinton Christmas Parade is this Saturday.

Each year the parade is traditionally held during the evening hours, but because of the community wanting it to be during the afternoon, the Clinton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors decided to move it to an afternoon. Executive Director of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, Marian Brisard says the decision was made a while back, giving everyone plenty of notice.

The Grand Marshal for the 2012 Clinton Christmas parade will be The Larson Family. Excerpts from their nomination letters read as include "Mabel was diagnosed with a fatal genetic disease called Batten's Disease, a terminal brain disease. Dan & Ramee are using this diagnosis as an opportunity to educate people through their foundation, "Mabel's Able." Mabel's Christmases are limited. The Larson family is dealing with the short life expectancy of their sweet daughter, caring for her special needs, while working to raise two older children. Dan is a veteran, who served in the Marine Corps and has gone to war for our country. Now, Dan is employed at Clinton Power Station as a security officer. Ramee is a stay-at-home mom, taking care of Mabel's special needs and home-schooling Nora & Braden. The family hosts an annual 5K Walk and Run, donating the money raised to other families whose children suffer from rare diseases." Brisard says all the nominees were very deserving.
