Two veteran Peoria police officers are scheduled to stand trial early next year on charges that they attempted to cover up a drunken driving crash involving 1 of the officers.
A judge on Monday set a trial date of Feb. 25 for John Couve, a vice officer, and Sgt. Richard Glover.
Prosecutors contend that Couve crashed an unmarked SUV into an electrical transformer and knocked out power to 468 customers in the area and that Glover allegedly gave false information.
Both men are charged with official misconduct. Couve faces a charge of obstructing justice, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
The officers have been on unpaid leave since just before Labor Day. Both have pleaded not guilty.
