Investigation into the scene of an accident which occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, revealed that a vehicle driven by Patrick Coyle, 54, Washington, was traveling southbound on County Highway 16. Coyle dozed off. Coyle realized it was too late to stop at the intersection and pulled the steering wheel right, entering an empty field. Coyle struck the ditch causing airbags to deploy and the vehicle came to rest in the field. Coyle was transported to St. Joseph Hospital by DeWitt County EMS. The vehicle was towed by Baum’s Towing. Coyle was issued citations for Failure to reduce speed/Accident and Disobey Traffic Control Device.

 

Investigation into the scene of an accident which occurred at approximately 2:37 a.m. on Sunday, December 2, revealed that a vehicle driven by Donald Sturgeon, 42, Beason, was traveling west bound on State Route 10 near Y-end road. Sturgeon lost control of the vehicle, driving off the roadway on the North bound side. Sturgeon overturned in the ditch on the north side of roadway, facing south. Sturgeon was issued citations for DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and leaving the scene of a Property Damage Accident.
