The city of Champaign is in the market for some new fire trucks and just about anyone could end up with old ones - if they submit the highest bid. The city plans to auction three old fire trucks on eBay. The trucks destined for online auctions include a 50-year-old model that doesn't always start and two 18-year-old trucks with about 90,000 miles on them. Fire Chief Doug Forsman says the city expects to get $,5,000 to $10,000 for each. That won't help much with the cost of the new engines. The city plans to spend almost $1.5 million on them.
