Investigation into the scene of an accident which occurred at approximately 3:31 p.m on Monday, December 3, revealed that a vehicle driven by Meyer Chapman, 64, Champaign, was traveling west bound on State Highway 10 near intersection of State Highway 54 while approaching illuminated squad car parked in the road way. Meyer veered into the east bound lane realizing the road was blocked by fire department and another vehicle in the roadway. Meyer turned into a parking lot to turn around. Officer Alex Lovell, 33, Clinton, saw Meyer evade the blocked intersection and proceeded into parking lot behind Meyer. Meyer backed into Lovell not realizing the squad car was behind him. Meyer and passenger had no visible signs of injuries and did not report any at the scene. Meyers vehicle was driven from the scene with minor damage. Clinton Police vehicle was driven from the scene. Meyer was issued citations for disobeying Police officer and operating uninsured motor vehicle.

ALL SUSPECTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL FOUND GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW.
