Bloomington Woman's Murder Trial To Start This Week

The trial of a Bloomington woman accused of choking her mother-in-law to death is scheduled to start next week.

Jury selection in Misook Wang's trial begins Monday.

Defense attorney Brian McEldowney expects the trial to last about a week.

Wang has pleaded not guilty in the 2011 death of 70-year-old Wenlan Tyda of Crest Hill in south suburban Chicago. McLean County prosecutors say Wang lured her mother-in-law to central Illinois by making Tyda think a job was available translating Chinese.

Prosecutors contend Wang led authorities to Tyda's body, which was buried body at a forest preserve in Des Plaines.

Earlier this year, Judge Robert Freitag granted a motion to suppress Wang's initial interrogation, in which police said she eventually revealed her culpability in the murder.
