The Chicago Cubs are reportedly close to landing starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez. "USA Today" reports the right-hander came close to signing a five-year, 75-million-dollar contract, but the Detroit Tigers asked for a chance to make an offer and Sanchez agreed. Sanchez went 9-and-13 with a 3.86 ERA in 31 starts combined with the Detroit Tigers and Miami Marlins last season. He was 4-and-6 with a 3.74 ERA in 12 starts with the Tigers in the regular season and then went 1-and-2 with a 1.77 ERA in three postseason starts. In seven big league seasons, the 29-year-old is 48-and-51 with a 3.75 ERA in 145 career games.
