Clinton Police Host 3rd Shop With Cop

The Clinton Wal-Mart and the Clinton Police Department recently teamed up to give local kids in need a Merry Christmas.

Each year the Clinton Wal-Mart and Police Department team up for their "Shop With A Cop" night. Clinton Police Chief Mike Reidy says a lot of credit goes to the Clinton Wal-Mart for each year being willing to fund this event for the local youth and brighten their Christmases.

Chief Reidy feels "Shop With A Cop" is a great event because it puts law enforcement personnel in a different role. He feels it shows the kids, who may have a very negative view of police, they are humans too and enjoy doing fun things. For the officers, the Chief says it gives everybody a nice feeling of helping the kids of the community out.

Chief Reidy says as they are walking through Wal-Mart picking out toys and clothes, the kids were also thinking about their brothers or sisters and the things they would want. He feels that is very heartwarming gesture that the kids are not just thinking about themselves, but they have their family in mind.

This was the third year for the "Shop With A Cop" night.
