Thomas More Society: Gay Marriage Not Necessary

A bill to legalize gay marriage could come up for a vote next month but Peter Breen, with the Thomas More Society in Chicago, doesn't like the idea. He says if the bill passes, religious groups and other organizations could be forced to accommodate the couples, even if they don't want to.

Breen says civil unions are enough for same-sex couples.

Breen adds everyone will be forced to participate, whether they know it or not.

Breen says marriage is not just about the two people who enter into the relationship. He says it's more about children and the continuing of society. The Thomas Moore Society doesn't plan to lobby lawmakers against the bill. Breen says they'll simply advise lawmakers on the possible consequences of passing the bill.
