NFL Notes: Pro Bowl Rosters Selected, Cowboys' Brent Indicted

>>Cutler Says Offense Needs To Step Up

Jay Cutler understands the Chicago Bears need help to get to the playoffs, and they could use more than just an assist from archrival Green Bay.

It would help if their offense pitched in.

It hasn't in recent weeks, and that's one reason the Bears (9-6) are in danger of missing the playoffs for the fifth time in six years. Those struggles have played a big role in their free-fall after a 7-1 start, and even if they win at Detroit in the season finale on Sunday, there's no guarantee they'll make it.

They'll still need Green Bay to beat or tie Minnesota. They could also get in with a tie if the Vikings lose.

Either way, Cutler says for quarterbacks, these are "games you've got to have."

>>NFL Announces Pro Bowl Rosters

(New York, NY) -- The NFL announced its Pro Bowl rosters on Wednesday night. Quarterbacks Peyton Manning of the Broncos and the Patriots' Tom Brady, along with Texans defensive end J.J. Watt will head to Hawaii. Manning is the starting QB in his 12th Pro Bowl selection. On the NFC side, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was named the starter and will be joined by Redskins rookie Robert Griffin the Third and Matt Ryan of the Falcons. Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson headline the skill position players. The San Francisco 49ers had the most players named to the Pro Bowl with nine, including outside linebacker Aldon Smith and middle linebacker Patrick Willis. The game will take place on January 27th at Aloha Stadium. The AFC won last year's game 59-41, and wide receiver Brandon Marshall was the MVP. Marshall, now with the Bears, will start this year for the NFC opposite Johnson.

>>Five Bears Earn Pro Bowl Selection

(undated) -- The Chicago Bears had five players named to the NFC squad for the 2013 Pro Bowl. Cornerbacks Tim Jennings and Charles Tillman join defensive end Julius Peppers, defensive tackle Henry Melton and wide receiver Brandon Marshall in the Pro Bowl.

>>Three Packers In Pro Bowl

(undated) -- Quarterback Aaron Rodgers joins linebacker Clay Matthews and center Jeff Saturday on the 2013 NFC Pro Bowl squad. Rodgers is closing in on four-thousand passing yards this season for the playoff-bound Packers.

>>Cowboys' Brent Indicted In DUI Manslaughter Case

(Dallas, TX) -- Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent has reportedly been indicted for felony intoxication manslaughter. The "USA Today" reports Brent is charged in connection with the December 8th crash that killed friend and teammate Jerry Brown. A trial date has not been set. Brent is out on a 100-thousand-dollar bond. The 24-year-old Brown was killed after Brent hit a curb and flipped the car the two were riding in. Brent had a blood-alcohol level of .189, which is more than twice the legal limit in Texas. Brent and Brown were teammates at the University of Illinois.
