1-2 Inches of Snow Expected Monday

width=The National Weather Service in Lincoln issued a special weather statement early Sunday morning, calling for snow across Central Illinois on Monday into Monday night.

The Weather Service says an upper-level distrurbance interacting with an approaching cold front, will bring a period of light snow to parts of central and southeast Illinois Monday, with snow developing across the area by mid-to-late morning, then continue thru-out the afternoon into the evening.

The Weather service says at this time, they're expecting one to 2 inches of snow along and south of a Rushville to Lincoln to Rantoul line. Slightly higher amounts of 2 to 3 inches will be likely along and south of Interstate 70.

While snowfall totals are expected to remain light, snow-covered roadways could create hazardous driving conditions Monday afternoon and evening. The Weather Service says that if you have New Year's Eve travel plans, exercise caution and plan on extra travel time.
