Winter Road Safety Tips

Winter is officially here and that means that road safety is especially important.

Chief Mike Reidy says that one easy step to take this winter is to take some extra time to make sure that ice and frost are cleared off your car windows. He says that while it's easy to jump in the car when you're in a hurry, taking those extra steps could make a big difference for yourself or another vehicle on the road.

Chief Reidy says that people can get a false sense of security if they live in town. County roads can be very treacherous during this time of year. He says it's important to create a winter survival kit to keep in your vehicle at all time. It's also important to constantly keep your car's gas tank filled.

Reidy says it's important to run your car for at least 5 minutes before you use it during the winter months. He also says to make sure that snow doesn't gather on your tailpipe and to always have a fully charged cell phone at hand.
