City of Clinton Looking To Move Towards Online Bill Paying

The City of Clinton is looking to give it's customers the opportunity to pay bills online.

The new system the City is considering will allow it's customers to view their bills online and also the ability to pay their bills online. City Treasurer, Clint Lichtenwalter explains the new system will be in real time, it will provide a transaction history, and will show you your balance of dues in real time.

The new wesbite will offer customers more convenience. Lichtenwalter explains the old system took customers through several different websites before they arrived at the State of Illinois' website, now there will be one primary site where everything can be accessed. He feels this will bring Clinton up to 21st Century standards.

New with this system will be free payments with credit or debit cards. In the past, consumers were hit with a convenience fee for credit cards. Lichtenwalter explains the City Council felt that was unnecessary and so that fee will be done away with as a part of the new system.

The City Council will consider three items for their next meeting which then set the wheels in motion of getting the process moving forward. Lichtenwalter says, should the City Council approve all the measures, it will just be a matter of time before everything is in line to launch the new website. He hopes everything will be in order and the site will be accessible by the end of February.
