One local non-profit organization has expanded it's coverage area.

The Mid-Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross covered Macon, Moultrie, DeWitt and Shelby Counties, and now it will expand all the way to the Indiana Border. Executive Director of the Mid-Illinois Chapter Carl Baker, says the expansion adds Piatt, Champaign, and Vermillion Counties.

The expansion will give the Mid-Illinois Chapter a larger population to cover and protect during disasters. Baker explains it was an effort by the Red Cross to have a more continuous coverage area for their chapters.
