Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein says he understands the ballclub's culture better now than he did when he first arrived.

Epstein spoke about the Cubs' reputation as "lovable losers." While that allowed the team to draw almost 2.9 million fans despite losing 101 games, Epstein won't consider it a success until the team wins. When he talks to players about being in Chicago long term, he sells them on the chance to turn things around.

Epstein spoke at a fundraiser for his charity, The Foundation to be Named Later, at Fenway Park on Friday night. The topic was "changing a clubhouse culture." Red Sox manager John Farrell and GM Ben Cherington also spoke, as did Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter and Boston assistant GM Mike Hazen.
