Clinton's Legion Receives Grant For Parking Lot Improvements

One local non-profit organization is getting a new parking lot.

width=Clinton's American Legion was the recipient of a $100-thousand grant to pave their gravel parking lot. Illinois State Representative Bill Mitchell made an appearance Wednesday afternoon as to congratulate them on the grant. He feels the Legion is very deserving of the money because of the many things they do throughout the Clinton community.

Rep. Mitchell and several other legislative leaders were instrumental in the Legion obtaining the grant. Tom Reddington, Vice-Commander of Legion, feels fortunate to get the grant and feels the local leaders saw the work they were doing and saw the need for a parking lot.

The veterans of the Legion rejuvenated the organization to what it is today. Reddington explains it was a complete volunteer effort to get the building on Elizabeth Street up. He says when they opened their doors almost four years ago, everything on the building was paid for, and the last step was a new parking lot.
