UPDATED: DeWitt Man Arrested After Killing Pedestrian While Driving Drunk

The DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle late Saturday evening in the village of DeWitt.  The vehicle’s driver was arrested for aggravated DUI and lodged at the DeWitt County Jail.  

At 11:17 P.M. on Saturday, January 20th, emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Bloomington and Franklin Street in the village of DeWitt, Illinois after 911 calls reported a person had been ran over by a vehicle.  Despite the efforts of first responders, the pedestrian later died.

Investigation into the incident resulted in the arrest of 72 year old Duane R. Boyer of DeWitt for Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a class 2 felony. The victim has been identified as Cathrine K. Kohl, 38 years old of Bloomington.

The matter remains under investigation by the Sheriff and Coroner. 

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
