Clinton Chamber Dinner Recap

The Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau's Annual Dinner aims to recognize the great things done in Clinton and the many businesses, organizations, and people that make Clinton a great community.

 width=Outgoing President of the Chamber Board, Scott Williamson explains 2012 was a great year for the Chamber. He says the many events hosted by the Chamber continue to be profitable and the free events continue to be successful as well.

The Clinton Small Business of the Year Award went to Clinton Auto Auction owned by Lance Schmid. Clinton Auto Acution opened in 2003 and has expanded their business since. Tourism Director for the Chamber, Carolyn Sugg presented them with their award and thanks them for the many years of dedication not just to the Chamber, but to the Clinton Community.

The Large Business of the Year award went to Illinois Oil Marketing and owner Dan Ballenger. Sugg says Ballenger is quick to help anyone with any needs they may have, and serves a large role in the Barn Quilts of DeWitt County.

The Non-Profit of the Year award went to the Clinton YMCA. Each year the Y gives out tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships to allow young kids the opportunity to take advantage of their programs. The YMCA also has many partnerships in the community and their staff volunteers for many things throughout the community as well.

 width=The Clintonian of the Year had a tie, and the two co-recipients were Sissy Leggett and Ernie Harvey. Both Leggett and Harvey give very generously of their time and talents and are very encourage to people on the opposite ends of the life cycle spectrum. Leggett encourages and serves the Seniors of the community beyond her job description. Harvey served as the Youth Minister at First Christian Church for 20-plus years and was a great example to the youth in those many years.

The Chamber will havea new Board of Directors. Dexter Peterson will be the new Board President. Ryan Utterback will be the Vice-President. Amanda Ferguson is the new Secretary. And Kevin Myers is the Treasurer of the Board. Other Board Members include Krystal Cicenas, Bill Harris, Vicki Morrow, Karissa West, Randy Miller, Katie Mollet, Brittany Price, Caleb Smith, and Shianne Smith.
