Peoria Mayor's Trip To Africa Delayed

The mayor of Peoria says a planned trip to Africa this February will have to wait until later this year.

Mayor Jim Ardis plans to go to Botswana to discuss a possible sister-city relationship. He had said a group from Peoria would go in February, but on Tuesday he said it likely won't happen until the middle or end of April. He says there's still interest, but some people planning to go couldn't make it in February.

The idea came after Botswana's ambassador to the United States visited Peoria twice last year. The ambassador invited the mayor to bring a delegation from Peoria to Botswana.

Peoria already has sister-city relationship with cities in China, Ireland and Germany.
