Chicago Goes Over Local Leaders Heads For Obama Gun Request

Chicago is on track to match the 506 murders investigated in the city last year and is reaching out for help. The Reverend Jesse Jackson, along with shooting victims in the city, is asking President Obama to leave Washington and address the issue of gun violence in his hometown.

Jackson says the federal government needs to step in, as it did during the civil rights movement.

During a march and rally against violence on Saturday, Jackson compared the fight against gun violence to the fight for civil rights, saying the federal government eventually had to step in to ensure African Americans had the right to vote. Jackson said the government must now intervene to stop the violence in Chicago.
