CEO of Illinois Community College Board To Retire

The president and chief executive officer of the Illinois Community College Board is planning to retire.

Geoffrey Obrzut has held that position since January 2004. In a statement Monday, he said he plans to retire on June 30.

Obrzut says he's grateful for the time he's spent working with Illinois' community college system. He says no state has a community college system that provides a better education or is more dedicated to students than Illinois.

Obrzut has spent more than 30 years in state government. He's also served in the Illinois House and on the Triton College Board of Trustees.
