The DeWitt County Development Council has been continuing efforts for development at the Clinton Lake property.

DeWitt County acquired 80 acres several years ago from the power plant and it was recommended they use the property for lodging. Executive Director of the DCDC, Ruth Stauffer says they have not given up on the dream of developing that property.

Right now, the lodging industry is doing quite well. Stauffer explains the firm they worked with in deciding what would be best for that 80 acres of land has been watching the markets and they are reporting very good numbers when it comes to people staying at hotels.

According to Stauffer, industry within the County is really growing. She points to the many good things happening in Farmer City. She feels DeWitt County has many positive assets that could be a draw for developers.

The DCDC receives many leads throughout the week about potential clients or developers, and Stauffer says it can be frustrating for some leads to take such a long time to make decisions. She notes though, DeWitt County is not the only ones dealing with the frustration of the slow economy, she says many areas have expressed the same concerns.
