Monticello Seeking To Update City's Strategic, Master Plans

The City of Monticello is looking to update an outdated Strategic plan, and at the same time, update their master plan.

The City is looking to regularly update their plans every four to five years. Mayor Chris Corrie explains Strategic Plan will be more of a "skeleton" but the Master Plan will be more of a financial plan.

Mayor Corrie explains the city has had yearly budgets they put together, but he feels having a longer term budget would benefit the City. He feels they need to know where the money will come from and where it needs to go.

Grants are a great way for a community to ease the cost of certain projects, and with economic times the way they are, Mayor Corrie says you cannot bank on grants and grant money being available. He notes though, the City will always explore that possibility, but not build them into the budget as a certitude.

The Mayor says if you let a grant opportunity drive a certain project, the project may never become a reality. He says that will most likely end in frustration.
