Monticello's Vinny Strack Signs National Letter of Intent

The Monticello Sages football program has another prospect headed to the next level.

width=Monticello High School Senior Vinny Strack signed his letter of intent earlier this week to play football for the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Strack was a starting safety and played limited offensive snaps. Strack says he is eager to get going next year, and felt Wisconsin-Stout was a great fit for him.

It was not until after the football season Strack started receiving interest from the DIII program in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Strack says he didn't seriously consider playing at the next level until after a loss to Tolono-Unity late in the season. He sees this opportunity as a new lease on his football career.

width=Monticello High School football coach Cullen Welter feels college is going to be a great opportunity for Strack. Welter has coached Strack all four years and feels he has made great progress. Coach Welter feels Strack has barely tapped into the leadership qualities that makes him such a popular kid.

Strack primarily played in the secondary for Monticello High School. He says Wisconsin-Stout has recruited him as a receiver, with a good opportunity to play right away. He hopes to eventually have the opportunity to play defense again, but is keeping a team-oriented mindset.

Wisconsin Stout plays in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). Menomonie is towards the western edge of Wisconsin.
