Monticello Looking Into Updating Strategic Plan

The City of Monticello has been discussing and investigating updating their Master and Strategic Plans.

The Strategic Plan will be more of a "skeleton" but the Master Plan will be more of a financial plan. Mayor Chris Corrie says their Strategic Plan will include plans for items such as parks and recreation or their infrastructure.

Putting long term plans together will not be something that happens over a short period of time, in fact, Mayor Corrie says in order to make the plans work well and be effective, it is going to take some time.

Part of Monticello's Strategic Plan will be to develop a long term Master Plan that will be a projection of revenues. Mayor Corrie feels the best way to project those revenues is to look at past budgets. Once those projections have been developed into an estimated budget, the Monticello City Council and staff members can then begin working together on where they want that money to go.

Mayor Corrie explains the city has had yearly budgets they put together, but he feels having a longer term budget would benefit the City. He feels they need to know where the money will come from and where it needs to go.
