Normal Council Agrees To 2-Year Deal With Police

The Normal Town Council has agreed to a 2-year contract with its police officers.

Reports indicate the deal with the Police Benevolent and Protective Association Unit 22 includes 2.85% wage increases in both years. The contract also calls for a match of up to $500 per year in the employee's retirement account and an increase in the sick leave exchange for retirement.

At the council's meeting Monday night, Councilman Adam Nielsen said the deal shows negotiations went well. He says both sides bargained in good faith and he appreciates the effort that went into reaching an agreement.
