FFA Week Highlight - Normal U-High In First Year

A first year FFA Chapter is taking the opportunity to fill their peers in of their presence.

The Normal U-High FFA Chapter is in it's inaugural year and the Reporter for the Chapter, Duncan Terry says they have posters around the school promoting FFA week, but they also have been hosting pancake breakfasts to help raise money. He notes they've been studying in their Ag class on the history of FFA.

In the first year of the FFA Chapter at Normal U-High, Terry explains they have had a good turnout considering there was not much advertising of it. He explains the technology teacher at the high school became certified to teach ag, which got the program going.

Normal U-High's FFA student leader has family ties to FFA. Derrek Durdle, the President of the U-High Chapter explains his father was an FFA President when he was in high school and Durdle says he has family that farms which was a driving factor in his decision to join FFA.

The U-High FFA members are for the time being reaching out to the kids of their school and other grade schools to inform them of the opportunities FFA offers and make them more aware of the role of agriculture in the community.
