Lincoln High School Using Drills To Prepare For Campus On Site Emergencies

Fire, tornado, or earthquake drills used to be all administrators used to have to worry about when it came to preparing students for in school emergencies. But over the past 15 years, that has drastically changed.

Lincoln Community High School this year alone has already done three different drills to prepare for an armed intruder into the school building. Superintendent of Lincoln Community High School Robert Bagby says like other schools, they also upgraded their surveillance equipment.

The communication between school administrators and law enforcement is vital to the effectiveness of a school's safety. Bagby says without that communication, the procedures each has in place becomes meaningless. He says Lincoln High School and other schools and law enforcement agencies have been working closely.

Communication with parents o the students is just as important and Bagby says Lincoln uses the system "School Reach". Bagby says while you hope no school ever has to deal with these types of emergencies, schools being forced to spend more time looking into these types of emergencies is a good thing.
