>>Johnson Wins Dayton 500

(Daytona Beach, FL) -- Jimmie Johnson rallied to win his second career Daytona 500 on Sunday. The five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion held off Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the final lap. Johnson also won this race in 2006. Fifty-four-year-old Mark Martin finished in third, followed by reigning Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski and Ryan Newman. Pole sitter Danica Patrick finished in eighth place. The 30-year-old became the first woman ever to lead a lap at the Daytona 500 and also became the 13th driver to lead a lap in both the Indy and Daytona 500.

(Daytona Beach, FL) -- The day after a crash injured about 30 fans at Daytona International Speedway, life went on for NASCAR. The running of the Daytona 500 went without incident in the stands but there were some smackups on the oval. None of them had the drama of Saturday's race. By Sunday morning, repairs had been made to the fencing damaged in the multi-car crash which sent debris into the crowd. Two fans who had first been listed as critical were listed in stable condition Sunday. Others were in stable condition or had been treated and released on Saturday.
