Clinton Educational Foundation Awards Classroom Grants

The Clinton Community Educational Foundation awarded their yearly classroom grants across the Clinton School District Tuesday morning.

Almost a dozen grants were awarded. Eight teachers received 11 grants. Claudine Wargel with the CCEF explains most of the grant requests were for technology. Wargel explains one request, which was for Mrs. Debra Horvath at Webster School, was for iPads for her classroom, which is a special education classroom.

Douglas School teach Jennifer Immke received a grant of musical instruments in her classroom. Wargel explains the instruments she will be receiving help her students learn about music and learn to be comfortable playing music as well.

Teachers put in application for the grants and they are reviewed in January. President of the CCEF, Ruth Lowers says this year they received 11 applications and all 11 applicants for grants received funding.

The CCEF aims to provide financial assistance to the classrooms of Clinton teachers for things their yearly budgets cannot cover. Lowers feels this provides the teachers a good opportunity to get items that can enhance their curriculum.

Every teacher was very appreciative to receive the grants and were very surprised when they were presented with their classroom grants. Lowers and Wargel both feel each teacher was very deserving to receive the grants, which was the reason all applications were accepted.
