Snowmobilers Itching To Get Out

With the several inches of snow central Illinois has received over the last few days, there just might be enough in some areas for snowmobilers to get their snowmobiles out.

Local law enforcement officials are urging those taking to the rural parts of the area with those snowmobiles to do so safely. Ray Wichus, Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police Officer cautions snowmobilers to know where they can and cannot be when out.

Wearing a helmet while riding a snowmobile is of the upmost importance. Wichus explains there are several scenarios where a helmet can be a life saver. He says there could be drainage ditches or unseen wet spots that can lead to an involuntary accident.
