Illinois State University Sets Fundraising Record

It's been a banner year for fundraising at Illinois State University.

The Normal-based school has announced it set a fundraising record by raising $19.5 million in the fiscal year that ended June 30. That compares with $14.8 million over the previous year.

The record-setting tally includes two donations of $1 million or more. In all, more than 10,400 alumni offered some form of gift to the university during the fiscal year.

The money raised will go toward various projects and programs. That includes student scholarships and endowed faculty positions.

In a statement, Illinois State President Larry Dietz heralded the fundraising success. He says it'll help the school "accomplish its mission."
