NIU Alumni Creates Campus Safety Device

Three former roommates at NIU are making a buzz for creating a new safety device. Dominick Blando is one of the creators of EduProtect. He says the small, wireless remote could've helped save the life of a student who was killed at NIU three years ago.

Blando says the small, wireless remote sends an alert to police when someone is in trouble.

Blando adds they created the EduProtect device in response to increased attacks on college campuses, but you don't have to be a student to use it.

All three of the EduProtect creators were students at NIU when a gunman opened fire in a lecture hall, killing four people back in 2008. They're taking orders for the safety devices right now. They'll be available in September. Check out Edu-Protect.com for more details.
