Y-Zone Registration Opens Friday

width=With school starting up soon, many parents will be signing their kids up for the Cliunton YMCA's in-school program, Y-Zone.

The Clinton YMCA Y-Zone is a before and after school program that allows kids an avenue to be active and stay out of trouble during the school year when parents may not be around to keep a watchful eye over them. Rennie Cluver, Executive Director of the YMCA, explains kids will receive both physical and mental stimulation during the course of the day.

The program is structured to cater to the individual student's needs. According to Cluver, kids will be able to finish homework or catch up on missed work. The fact that Y-Zone is held in the schools also helps the Y to partner with teachers in case they need to work extra time with child.

Kids who range from kindergarten through fifth grade can participate in Y-Zone. Cluver eplains the set-up for some of the schools will be different due to the new elementary school. He says leaders from the school district will sit down with him to discuss plans for the future as well.
