An Irish marching band's planned visit to Peoria next year is prompting a call for 70 host families.
The band is from Clonmel, Ireland, one of Peoria's sister cities. More than 100 band members, ranging in age from 12 to 22, and their adult chaperones will be visiting in July 2015.
About 20 host families already have signed up to house the young musicians and color guard.
Betty Rohman is president of the Peoria-based Friends of Clonmel sister-city group. According to reports, she says a 2009 trip by the Clonmel band was the start of many lasting friendships.
The band's performances during the visit are likely to include an Independence Day parade and a field demonstration.
