(Cincinnati, OH) -- The Cubs start a three-game series with the Reds tonight in Cincinnati. Chicago sends Travis Wood to the mound. He's 7-and-11 with a 4.91 ERA. The Reds counter with Johnny Cueto [[ KWAY-toh ]], who is 15-and-7 with a 2.20 ERA. First pitch at Great American Ball Park is at 6:10.

(Chicago, IL) -- The White Sox try to end a six-game slide tonight in the first of a three-game series with the Indians. Jose Quintana [[ KEEN-tah-nuh ]] takes the ball for Chicago. He's 6-and-10 with a 3.25 ERA. Cleveland counters with T.J. House, who is 2-and-3 with a 3.80 ERA. First pitch is at 7:10.

(Cincinnati, OH) -- The Cubs are reportedly calling up outfielder Jorge Soler from Triple-A Iowa. The 22-year-old Cuban is ranked as Chicago's fifth-best prospect according to MLB.com and has soared through the system this year. Soler is reportedly set to join the team in Cincinnati toay.

(Pittsburgh, PA) -- The Cardinals are shuffling their roster a bit. They recalled pitcher Tyler Lyons from Triple-A Memphis before Monday's game against the Pirates and optioned infielder Greg Garcia to Double-A Springfield. Lyons was 0-and-3 with a 5.46 ERA in seven games earlier this year.

(Springfield, MO) -- Injured Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and pitcher Michael Wacha [[ WAH-kuh ]] are taking the next step toward their big league return. Molina will work out today at Double-A Springfield as he works his way back from thumb surgery. He could be back with the Cardinals as soon as this weekend's series against the Cubs. Wacha is slated to throw live batting practice to minor leaguers tomorrow as he recovers from a shoulder injury.

(New York, NY) -- Minnesota Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe and center fielder Danny Santana are the Co-American League Players of the Week. Plouffe hit .367 with two homers, five doubles and 10 RBI. Santana had a .378 average last week with one home run, six RBI and seven runs scored.

(New York, NY) -- Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado is the National League Player of the Week. Arenado posted a major league-leading 1.045 slugging percentage and led the Senior Circuit with a .545 batting average, going 12-for-22 with three home runs, three doubles and a triple.

(San Francisco, CA) -- A Giants' fan favorite is receiving a demotion. San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy has decided to pull Tim Lincecum out of the starting rotation. He will have his start on Thursday against the Rockies skipped and is headed to the bullpen. Lincecum has 9.49 ERA in six starts since being used as the closer in an extra inning game on July 22nd. Yusmeiro Petit is scheduled to get the start on Thursday unless he's needed as an extra arm out of the pen before then. There is no scheduled time for Lincecum to return to the starting rotation.
