Kindergarten Enrollment Unexpectedly Up In Clinton Schools

width=With students all settled in at the new Clinton Elementary School and students across the district getting back into the routine of the new school year, Clinton district leaders say they saw something surprising as the year began.

According to Dr. Jeff Holmes, Superintendent of the Clinton School District, the kindergarten numbers for this school year surprised them at how high they were. He explains when registration concluded, the enrollment numbers in kindergarten surpassed what they were estimating for this year.

Going into each school year, Dr. Holmes indicates the district has an idea of what to expect with their kindergarten enrollment. He explains they have a good relationship with all the area pre-kindergarten groups and are consistently keeping tabs with them. He feels this is just a coincidence they are more than pleased accommodate.

While the district feels like they do a good job of monitoring those pre-K students coming into the district, Dr. Holmes points to the Kindergarten registration they hold in the spring as a reason all parents get their students signed up.

To accommodate the small bump in enrollment, Dr. Holmes indicates they have hired an additional pair of teacher's aids.
