The central Illinois high school football season kicks off today, and several area teams are in new conferences along with new additions to their schedules for 2014.

The Clinton Maroons open their season tonight at home against non-conference opponent, Flanagan-Cornell. Off an 1-8 campaign in 2013, head coach John Hayden hopes to continue to build at Clinton High School. Entering their first season in the Central Illinois Conference, the Maroons will welcome the additions of Flanagan-Cornell and Fithian Oakwood to their nine-game slate and say goodbye to former Okaw Valley Black opponents Monticello and Tolono Unity.
