After two close calls at home to start the regular season, the 2-0 Fighting Illini will hit the road for a west coast game this Saturday afternoon as they head to Husky Stadium in Seattle to take on Pac-12 opponent Washington.
Last year at Soldier Field in Chicago, the Huskies pulled out 34-24 victory. A much more high powered offense lead by sophomore quarterback Wes Lunt will try to get to a defense with a lot of inexperience in the secondary, however, the front seven of Washington is one of the Pac-12's most experienced.
LBs Shaq Thompson and John Timu and NT Danny Shelton have already combined for 57 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
Washington can be scored though. After escaping with a 17-16 road victory at Hawaii in week one, Washington held on in a shootout over FCS powerhouse Eastern Washington, 59-52.
After Coach Beckman called on his defense to force more turnovers, the Illini forced two turnovers that resulted in 14 points, including a 77-yard pick-six by safety Taylor Barton.
Game time Saturday is 3 CT on FOX.
