Decatur Man Gets 50 Years In Toddler's Death

A central Illinois man was sentenced Friday to 50 years in prison after admitting he killed a 2-year-old boy by slamming him against a wall after the child would not stop jumping on a bed.

Reports indicate Manuel Gonzales, 29, pleaded guilty in Macon County Circuit Court to a first-degree murder count related to the death last December in Decatur of Dominic Bradley.

Authorities said Gonzales was dating Bradley's mother when the boy died of blunt trauma to the head, with Gonzales admitting to police he slammed the child with such force that the boy's head dented the wall. The boy also had bruises on his face, back, legs and buttocks, police said.
